Do you really know what goes on behind the scenes of trying to get your puppies home? Well let me tell you, as crucial as it sounds, sometimes they don’t make it. Working in the animal field has opened the doors to me, to be able to befriend and communicate with people from other parts of the United States.  After interviewing workers from several major companies, I’m sharing their experiences as an eye opener for those of you who had no idea how Brutus the Mastiff is being shipped or that little expensive kitten you bought internationally.

Mind you, these can be puppies and kittens. The legal age an animal can be transported by USDA Regulations is 8 weeks old. This can be for domestic and international flights. Some long-distance pet transportation companies deliver puppies that are younger than 8 weeks and under the 4-pound weight requirement. Often keeping them stuffed in crates for days. Some pass away during the journey, neglected and suffering.
